What they won’t tell you about the Freedom Convoy
I joined the original Facebook page when the GoFundMe had raised just under 300k. That was less then a week ago, and the page has now raised almost 10million dollars to support the truckers who are standing firm in what they believe.
The media has created an angry and hateful image of the people spilling through the streets surrounding parliament hill in every direction.
There have been some unfortunate happenings. I won’t deny that. There was a group who harassed the workers at a soup kitchen for those experiencing homelessness. This is extremely sad. These are beautiful people who have worked hard to reach those who need it most during a difficult two years.
Thankfully those who have heard of it were also upset that this occurred under the Freedom Convoy banner. Many have stepped up from both political spectrums to donate to this soup kitchen in response- so much so that their site crashed!

There was also a group of people who, in their excitement to show their support for freedom, disrespected a statue of our Canadian hero Terry Fox by placing a sign that read “Mandate Freedom” in his arms, and hanging a Canadian Flag around his neck.
Thankfully, some wonderful protesting citizens cleaned him up and lay flowers in honor of his legacy
There is now a 24/hr vigil beside his memorial to protect him from any further disrespect or harm.
It was also reported that protestors were dancing or parking on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. This, of course, is heartbreaking and disrespectful to our veterans. They are the ones who have fought for the freedom of our country.
Thankfully, following this information, the vehicles were removed and a group of our Canadians for Freedom took a moment of silence in hopes of making it right.
Unfortunately there were also reports of Nazi flags and Swastikas.
There were, in my knowledge, two. I don’t have photos of them but I did see one and my sister witnessed the other.
One was on a caricature drawing of Justin Trudeau, to protest authoritarian government policies.
The other was a swastika flag.
It was being carried by a uniformed veteran of our country, to state that the Canada we know to today is not the Canada he gave his service to protect.
Perhaps neither of these views “should” have been expressed in this way or with this image, and I must acknowledge the offense this can carry to those who experienced the horrifying treatment of our Jewish neighbors during Nazi Germany. If this is so, I’m sorry. Please realize it was NOT done to support this kind of behavior, but to stand against it ever occurring again.
I have heard rumors of others and of confederate flags. I don’t know if it’s true but if it is, I’m sorry. This is not what Canada stands for.
I would like to share a few of the beautiful things which my family and I witnessed on Saturday the 29th of January on Parliament Hill:
- Thousands of Canadians singing Oh Canada in unison
- Dozens of people stopping to thanks cops, first responders, etc for their service
- an 18 wheeler flatbed of free food for all truckers, protesters and passersby
- dudes cooking and handing porkchops and hot dogs out of their semis
- Indigenous drum circles joined by every possible culture dancing together
- a Sikh truck driver grinning and high fiving passersby while his wife and three kids waved from inside
- the guy on open mic interrupting his own speech in order to direct the crowd to step aside for an ambulance…which everyone immediately did
- almost NO litter, people brought and hung their own trash bags, and the few strays were being picked up by people walking down the street
- Hutterites and Muslim women standing for the same cause
- Christians worshipping on a street corner, and a trucker stopping to listen and nearly crying. I spoke with him and he said his wife knew Jesus and he did not, admitted his wife had probably prayed that he would find us here, and nearly cried when I reminded him that he was loved and God sent him here for a purpose
- a bonfire of Quebecois and Albertans unifying (I mean really…has that ever happened?!)
- an entire group of people posting hundreds of messages to a trucker whose wife passed away while he was gone
- strangers grabbing hands, dancing, and hugging in the streets
- An Indigenous truck driver offering a group of strangers to climb his truck and high fiving hundreds of people running by to say thank you
- A dude who literally drove with his own port-a-potties on his flatbed in order to keep our nation’s capital clean
- Shwarma business handing out discount cards for protesters to get a warm meal
- The Dollarama employees literally FLOORed with excitement to help people make signs and buy stuff for the protest
- entire trucks dedicated to the lost indigenous children, and many people waving orange flags
Before I get to the most important point (stay with me here!!!) I want to share a few more photos of our joyful citizens…just for fun :)
Lastly, I want to bring this up because the link has been shadow banned all over Facebook causing it to not get enough traction and it is SO important to our nation.
And yes, if I have learned anything through this process, I have learned that Shadow-banning is a real thing, and people’s voices really are intentionally silenced by social media.
The same organizers of the GoFundMe started one to try and raise funds for clean drinking water for the Indigenous communities. They are almost at 700k. It may not be the 1.8billion that Trudeau promised but it sure is better than $0.You can donate at the link below:
Please remember that no matter the state of our healthcare system (it is very devastating, and always has been), or what your believe about masks and vaccines, it can never be a substantial reason to overthrow the very foundations of our democratic government…
- a) freedom of conscience and religion
-many people have a conscience against the vaxx for various reasons
-QC has banned worship gatherings of any kind - b) freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other media of communication;
-thousands of people are being actively and intentionally silenced by news networks and on social media - c) freedom of peaceful assembly; and
-Nova Scotia has just banned people from participating in the convoy with fines of up to 10k under an “Emergency Act” - d) freedom of association
-Nova Scotia also just banned their citizens from donating to the Convoy. — Many who have supported the movement are being deemed “guilty by association” simply because they are present.
You may not agree with these final points. But I hope if you made it this far you can at least consider the possibility that the truckers and protesters are here to stand for what they believe in: a peaceful, unifying, and inspiring demonstration of what it means to be Canadian.
We are the True North, Strong and Free!
